What is Heading Home?
Heading Home is the name of the community planning process begun to create a plan to end homelessness in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County within 10 years and create and preserve the pool of affordable housing available to extremely low income residents. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has charged communities across the nation with the task of creating 10-year plans to end longstanding homelessness.

Who is sponsoring Heading Home?
Heading Home is jointly sponsored by the Office of the Mayor, City of Cleveland, the Board of Cuyahoga County Commissioners, and Cleveland City Council.

Who is the Chair for Heading Home?
Heading Home is being Chaired by Julie Rittenhouse, Associate Director of the Saint Ann Foundation/Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland.

How is the planning process funded?
The planning process is funded with grants from The Cleveland Foundation, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland, and the St. Luke’s Foundation of Cleveland.

Is there any oversight of Heading Home?
Yes. Heading Home is overseen by a Leadership Committee comprised of over 30 representatives from the religious, corporate, philanthropic, nonprofit, and government sectors.

When will the plan be completed?
The plan will be completed and a report issued by late summer, 2005.
